Weekend Workshop
The Art of Flowers - Botanical Watercolours & Mixed Media

A Weekend Workshop with Artist Nicola Lynch Morrin
This two-day workshop explores flowers as subjects for close observation, drawing, and painting. Working with watercolour and mixed media, participants will develop skills in observational drawing, colour, and mark-making with a particular focus on floral structure and form.
Nicola will guide participants through her approach to visual research, sharing sketchbooks and finished artworks. Using reference material and guided exercises, participants will create a visual research diary to support both exploratory work and more resolved studio paintings.
This workshop is an invitation to slow down, look deeply and discover how attentive seeing transforms both the painting and the painter.
Suitable for beginners and experienced artists, the course offers individual tuition throughout with an emphasis on accuracy, sensitivity and building confidence through close looking.
“ One must look hard at the flower to see the flower.” Matsuo Basho.
The workshop will cover:
Observational drawing techniques using floral reference
Watercolour and mixed media processes
Developing a visual research diary
Translating observation into finished artwork
*Some materials supplied, though a small materials list will be sent to each participant
*This workshop will be held in our Dublin 8 classroom - https://maps.app.goo.gl/9n6khmHnMR5Zr58r9
