About Flux

FLUX is a grassroots cultural organisation supporting artists, creative communities and public culture in Dublin city.

Working across two inner-city locations, we provide affordable studios, project spaces, exhibitions, workshops and public programming that support artists at all stages of their practice. Our spaces are home to painters, performers, musicians, filmmakers, curators, designers, writers and community organisers — creating a shared environment for experimentation, collaboration and cultural exchange.

Founded in 2022 as a continuation of the artist-led initiative BLOCK T, FLUX was established in response to the growing loss of affordable cultural space in Dublin. Since then, we have developed a sustainable, community-driven model for supporting artistic production and public engagement in the city centre.

Today, FLUX supports over 100 artists and makers through long-term studio provision, skills development programmes, exhibitions, events and community partnerships. Alongside our resident members, we work with a wide range of organisations, collectives and local groups to deliver accessible cultural activity throughout the year.

Our core team comprises Chris Cullen (Founder & Managing Director), Jenny Keogh (Member Liaison), Katie Sullivan (Front of House) & Dr Karl Thomas (Business Stategy & Development). We are supported by a team of volunteers, as well as the management team at the Digital Hub.

We believe culture should be embedded within the everyday life of the city — open, affordable and shaped collectively by the communities who participate in it. Our work is rooted in a DIY ethos that values experimentation, accessibility, solidarity and artist-led approaches to cultural production.

Beyond providing workspace, FLUX functions as a platform for new ideas, emerging practices and public connection. From exhibitions and performances to workshops, festivals and educational initiatives, we aim to create the conditions for artists and audiences to engage meaningfully with contemporary culture in Dublin.

As the city continues to change, we see artist-led infrastructure as essential civic infrastructure: spaces where creativity, critical thinking and community can develop together.

FLUX Studios was established in June 2022 to continue BLOCK T’s decade long mission as a grassroots cultural organisation providing quality, affordable studio workspace to Dublin’s creative community. We currently manage 2 buildings in Dublin's inner city, with bases at the Digital Hub campus on Thomas St in Dublin 8 and our new flagship building at 4 Chatham Row in Dublin 2.

FLUX is currently home to over 90 creative practitioners, collectives such as Dublin Digital Radio & Dublin Print Club, as well as several arts based community groups such as Headway, Life Drawing Dublin & Bloop Groop.

We also run weekly creative workshops & short courses designed to increase participation in artistic activities. The FLUX team curates regular public cultural events and exhibitions, with a focus on providing creative solutions to vacant buildings and spaces.
