Figure Drawing Weekend

A Weekend Workshop with Artist Nina Ruminska

In this 12-hour workshop, we will focus on capturing the human figure in an expressive way using soft materials. Participants can choose from sepia, sanguine, charcoal, or graphite to explore their creativity.

During this workshop, we will:

  • Discuss the unique qualities of various soft materials: sepia, sanguine, charcoal, and graphite

  • Try various ways of working with soft materials

  • Prepare the drawing surface by stretching paper onto a wooden board and applying an undertone

  • Discuss proportions of the human figure and artistic anatomy

  • Create sketches from a live model

  • Comple a detailed figure study on a larger format

  • Discuss how to balance visual observation with a constructive approach to figure drawing

This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of the human figure, proportions, and anatomy, as well as sharpen their observational skills. Different drawing techniques using soft materials will be demonstrated, with plenty of examples of great drawings for reference and discussion.

The workshop will be led by Nina Ruminska, a classically trained artist. Suitable for all skill levels, the instruction will be tailored to meet the needs of each participant

COURSE FEE: €250

** Some materials supplied, though a list of materials will be sent to participants prior to the course.
