A Weekend Workshop with Artist Shevaun Doherty
Join award winning artist Shevaun Doherty for a weekend of painting a feast of summer fruit!
This two-day Botanical Art Workshop will show you how to achieve the luscious hues, forms and textures of summer fruit. Learn how to use washes, glazes, and drybrush effectively to create realistic light and colour, and how to build up depth and vibrancy through layering.
An experienced tutor, Shevaun will demonstrate her painting techniques as well as giving practical advice on how to choose the right paints and materials for botanical art.
Whether you are a beginner or simply wish to improve your painting skills, this friendly and informal class will inspire you to pick up your brushes and enjoy painting the summer harvest.
The class will cover
Creative Colour Mixing and Layering
Realistic Form and Texture
Tonal awareness- painting highlights, reflected lights and cast shadows
Watercolour techniques- washes, glazes and dry brush

Passionate about conservation, her artwork is often used to raise awareness. She designed a set of Irish postage stamps featuring bees in 2018, and the logo-image for the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan 2015. Shevaun’s work is is in the Natural History Museum of Ireland’s collection and gives regular workshops at home and abroad.

Unfortunately, no refunds are given. Please make sure that you, or the person you are gifting the workshop to, can attend this workshop. If you cannot attend the workshop we can reschedule your workshop if you inform us up to 21 days prior to the workshop's start date. If you request to reschedule less than 21 days before the workshop starting date we will not be in a position to change the date. Places can be given to a friend if you can no longer attend - please inform us as soon as you can with the new attendee's contact details.
